13 Feb EPPO clears MEP from fraud charges
The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) dismissed the case against Ms Maria Spyraki, a long-standing member of the European Parliament, on allegations of EU fraud in relation to the management of the remuneration of her Accredited Parliamentary Assistants. The decision to dismiss the case was made in line with the applicable Greek legislation, on a proposal of the competent European Delegated Prosecutor in Greece, and validated by the responsible Permanent Chamber of the EPPO.
Ms Spyraki, who had claimed her innocence from the outset of the proceedings, publicly expressed her enthusiasm for the outcome of the case.
Ilias Anagnostopoulos and Garyfalia Gianni of Anagnostopoulos, Athens, and Vassilis Akritidis of Crowell, Brussels, advised and represented Ms Spyraki throughout the proceedings.
