One of the most prominent businessmen in Greece with global presence was cleared earlier this month by the Court of Appeal, Athens, sitting as a first instance court.
The defendant was charged with bribing a former executive of an electricity public company in relation to a project awarded to one of his companies. After a lengthy trial hearing the Court found no legal basis for the alleged offence. Allegations of money laundering against the businessman had been rejected at the pre-trial stage.
Ilias Anagnostopoulos represented the businessman as lead counsel throughout the proceedings.
